Most of us like to eat what is known as comfort food during the winter which will usually contain more calories and more fat. Most of us don’t want to eat salads in the winter!

One thing we need to realise is that our skin can be affected by the food that we eat. Not drinking enough water causes dehydration which can lead to wrinkles on the face and we can also end up with spots and blemishes if we eat too much fatty food.

Those with medical conditions however, will need to speak to their doctor before beginning a detoxification program. Even a small detox program could affect anyone who is on prescribed medication. Your GP will advise you of whether or not this program is suitable for you.

Moderation is the Key

Once you have the go-ahead from your GP, don’t rush in like a bull in a china shop. Take the time to research the best options for you - one which will fit in with your lifestyle. Although the majority of detox programs only last for about three to five days, it may be that you choose to repeat it every couple of months.

Most of these programs will require you to go without food for about twenty hours but you will have to have quite a bit of water during this time with lemon maybe. You may find that it is raw vegetables and salad leaves that are to be eaten for the remainder of the program. It may also be suggested that you have colonic irrigation to get rid of toxins from the body.

Decide the best option for you before you start and remember that you’ll only get out of the program what you put in. You will get the best results by making sure that you follow the plan as closely as you can.
