Weight gain and illnesses like diabetes and Alzheimer’s are only few of the results of eating those regular yummy treats known as desserts. That is why there is a need to be vigilant and be watchful over the things we eat. However, longevity and good health does not mean you will be confined to spending a lifetime eating disgusting food! Enjoying those tasty meals and desserts is still possible!

I’m not trying to make a sales pitch because I’m not trying sell you anything! After all, the best things in life are free, and that includes good health. I am simply showing you a good way of clean living that have benefited millions of people for centuries. You don’t need to do anything specific for this except to cut out carbohydrates from your diet, which is a painless process since you can now replace those regular sugar-filled desserts with just as delicious low carb desserts.

Variations of desserts are as diverse as regular desserts. There are even low carb recipes for chocolates. Dark chocolates have lesser sugar and more cocoa, making them ideal low carb snacks or desserts. They’re one of the most ideal low carb desserts you can find. Because they are high in fat, they are also very filling, which makes them great snacks. Melting the chocolate and adding other low carb ingredients such as coconut milk and almond butter would even make your chocolate dessert special. Coconut cream that settled on top of coconut milk could be taken and whipped with melted chocolate can be turned into one of the best chocolate mousse you’ve ever tasted

Low carb deserts can be more complex recipes too. An example is low carb cheesecake. You can make low carb cheesecake in much the same way as you make your normal ones. The only parts of cheesecake that contain significant carbs is the sugar that’s normally added and the crust that’s used. Stevia, or other artificial sweeteners may be used to replace sugar and cut down the carb content of cheesecakes. You may choose to make your own crust with melted butter and ground almonds, or choose to not use one entirely. The almond and butter mixture is sticky enough that you can use it to form a thin layer on the base of whatever baking pan you are planning to use. Preparing a crust for cheesecake is not really mandatory so you can also opt to not make one at all. But if you want some texture added, a crust is definitely a good idea. It’s a crunchy texture. Of course, if you’re allergic to almonds or nuts, then you should definitely leave out the crust. Additionally, the crust does add some extra calories as both almonds and butter are high in calories. However, I am willing to make that small sacrifice!

There are still so many low carb desserts out there other than the ones mentioned. If you want, you can even come up with your own recipes for these desserts! What’s great about cooking for yourself is the opportunity to create unique recipes that you can call your own. Everyone has a creative bone in their body, no matter what you’ve been led to believe. You just might surprise yourself when you start cooking.
