Our new boot camp in Reading is 1 of a series of fitness sessions in Reading that we hold in Christchurch Meadows in Caversham. We presently have a group of about 25 people who attend up to four of our workout lessons every single week. The sessions run on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7pm and we also have two sessions at the weekend. The Saturday morning session begins at 9am and the Sunday morning session begins at 10am. New participants are very welcome, merely turn up and join in on the day.

Our sessions always start off with a ten minute dynamic flexibility 0 where we get the group to do some gentle running and general stretches whilst on the move. This assists the members get appropriately warmed up and helps avert injury throughout the exercise sessions.

This is then normally followed by a circuit or resistance training 0. The group appreciate this part the most as we let them use the “fitness toys” which consist of kettle bells, skipping ropes, boxing pads and medicine balls. Along with body weight drills such as squats and push ups, we use the toys to sculpt and tone people’s muscle groups.

We always finish the session with a sprinting 0. This can involve long distance running drills, which can be excellent for fitness but very seldom for body fat reduction. To invoke body fat reduction we use High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) drills. These normally contain a series of sprint drills between cones which create lactic acid in the blood. This lactic acid is extremely good for body fat burning and is 1 of the principles we base our boot camp sessions on.

By this stage the participants are commonly exhausted and we always finish with a good cool down and stretch for the final ten minutes. Immediately after a light jog we complete the session with a series of entire body stretches that begin to restore normal muscle length and start to reduce the amounts of muscle soreness which are inevitable.

Along with the typical exercise sessions in Reading all our members get a nutritional manual written by our in house certified nutritional therapist. This diet regime protocol is based on low Glycemic or low GI ideas where people are encouraged to eat a lot more protein and healthful fats whilst limiting refined carbohydrates. There are no calorie restrictions or portion controls as the benefits come from the low GI eating where insulin (fat storage hormone) amounts are reduced, therefore reducing body fat storage. We also recommend sensible supplement products for our consumers to assist improve their final results.
