The most common drastic diet plan is starvation; not taking in much food at all, resulting in your energy levels going down. This usually involves not eating breakfast or lunch and often both of these meals. Even though your body is forcefully telling you that you’re famished and need food, you convince yourself mentally that you’re not famished. Nonetheless, after a short while your body learns to adjust. As you eat less and less, your body gets anxious that it won’t be provided food so your metabolism slackens drastically to preserve energy, meaning you will burn off less fat throughout the day. Regrettably, once you begin to eat a typical diet again, your metabolism will continue to work slowly, and you are likely to quickly put on more fat as you won’t burn calories fast enough. You will lose weight by starving yourself, but not as much as you would with a correct diet and exercise program. Doesn’t it appear preferable to eat a healthy diet and have the opportunity to shed off even more pounds?

Starving yourself can often lead to anorexia. What happens is that you develop a fear of food and turning obese which results in your eating very little and becoming extremely thin. Anorexia can lead to a weaker immune system, hair loss and even death. Young people often experiment with starvation diets but, regrettably, when you become hooked on starving yourself, you can develop anorexia and do irreversible harm to your health.

Bulimia is another dangerous weight loss method. Those who follow this method eat huge amounts of food and then regurgitate so that the calories do not remain in their body. These people aren’t afraid of food as anorexics are, rather the opposite: they will overindulge on great amounts of food and then feel guilty so they sick it back up. In comparison to anorexia and starvation where it is apparent that the individual is losing weight, bulimia is tough to detect because the weight doesn’t fluctuate widely. Frequent regurgitating is tough on your body. It can cause damage to your heart, liver, and kidneys. Stomach ulcers may develop because of the routine vomiting of food. Your esophagus could be damaged by the stomach acid and your teeth could lose their enamel. Your throat could likewise get acid burns. Your body can be badly injured by throwing up your food on a regular basis.

My suggestion is to eat, but eat reasonably. This means smaller portions and less rich foods. You can safely get rid of those extra pounds without taking a chance on your health.
