Many people who want to get fit are torn between their workout and the effort of going to the gym. They may have the motivation to exercise, but they lack the desire to drive to the gym and share their workout with others. If this sounds like you, you need to come up with other workout solutions so you do not end up skipping workouts just because you are not in the mood to drive or hang out with others. You can always find non-gym ways of working out, but sometimes it is important to put fun aside and focus on the fitness aspect of the workout. A great way to do this is by building a home gym. This can be a simple space with one machine or a full-blow gym. You can make the purchase the next time you see a treadmill sale, buy one, and be set to go. Or you could fully equipped gym that utilizes Olympic plates. Regardless of how you put it together, it is important to build a space that motivates you.
Before bringing the machines into your space, be sure you have the basics of a comfortable space. Choose flooring that is good for your workouts and padded, if need be. If this is not an option have plenty of mats that can be moved around the room.
Put a fresh coat of paint on the walls of the room in a color you find inspiring. Cool colors soothe you and make you feel calm. Warmer colors are usually considered stimulating. Remember, you can always section off the room by color so your yoga space can be cool and your dance space can be warm. The last thing you want if you are running is to feel calm enough to sleep.
The final step in creating the perfect workout space before adding your chosen machines, is to make the space your own|is to personalize your exercise room to include motivational photos and sayings that you can enjoy . You can use a mural or photo collage to bring in images that make you want to get into shape.
If you think it will help, add a chair to the space for before and after your workouts. If you think the chair will end up interfering in your workout, leave it elsewhere. Finally, add a mirror to the room. If you are able to see your form while working out, it helps you move properly and seeing your body is a constant reminder of things you are trying to change.
