People who suffer from social anxiety may find it difficult in Controlling Panic Attacks in social situations. The treatments available include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and antidepressants, although unconventional methods such as self-help, acupuncture and hypnotherapy may also be considered. Most of us may feel a little apprehensive in situations such as; going on a first date, going to a social gathering where you don’t know anyone, and introducing yourself in a new class. For social anxiety sufferers however, these situations can be extremely hard to cope with.

Anxiety symptoms are likely to occur in such experiences and even trigger an episode. Signs of anxiety can show such as; stammering, sweating, speaking fast, fidgeting and avoiding eye contact. In most cases, adult social anxiety develops from negative childhood occurrences. Seemingly harmless to people who don’t suffer this disorder, for sufferers it can have huge negative effct on their lives.

Many feel limited with both happiness and opportunities. Success in daily life is affected by confidence and assertiveness which sufferers often lack. It’s quite common for children to fall short at school and to maintain low expectations as they grow up. Sufferers are likely to miss opportunities in life such as relationships and jobs.

Diagnosed cases of social anxiety disorder are either treated with medication or therapy, or a combination of both. Other methods for Coping With Panic Attacks and anxiety include lifestyle changes and self help techniques. Anxiety symptoms can start from fear and excessive worrying. In social experiences a sufferer may have irrational thoughts such as being afraid of being watched by everyone, even if it’s not the case. This can trigger fear and panic.

Having a self-centered perspective only intensifies the experience in a domino effect. Learning to stop these thoughts can take time but essentially to get over social anxiety a person needs to recondition them. Ways to do this are by practicing self help techniques such as positive visualizations and self-talk. Also by pushing your boundaries day by day you can gradually become more comfortable to situations that you fear.

Expand your horizons by developing your inner-self through self help books. Being confident just takes practice that even the most shy person can learn. Reduce engaging in self-centered thoughts and worry. Observe others and realize that you’re not being watched and learn to be comfortable in your own skin. Try and meet with friends more often and communicate with people more at work. Think of something that’s interested you and go out and do it.

Get into the habit of thinking about something good several times a day. Breathing and meditation exercises help in calming the body and mind and reducing stress. When you feel anxious in any particular situation, begin to breathe deeply and count to ten. Breath control is a simple method in countering feelings or anxiety and controlling panic attacks.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a meridian therapy which many people have claimed effectiveness in controlling panic attacks as well as other health problems. EFT works by focusing and acknowledging the problem using positive suggestion and balancing your energy flow and disruptions in the body. This is done by tapping on acupuncture points on the body. The important thing is to work on overcoming social anxiety everyday.
