You are moving but you would like to do it by yourself. Moving home yourself needs to be painstakingly prepared.

Moving home is an Anxious Time, so let’s look at that to start with.

As moving properties is such a big job, many people become stressed. You could be one of the charmed ones who handle stress with a smile. However it’s not a matter of personality and temperament

Simple steps to help make the move less stressful:

1. Take Advantage of Moving Equipment when having to move thousands of items, it is not such a bad idea to invest in few inexpensive moving provisions that can help manage your move more easily. As soon as you know you will be moving, start getting together clean boxes, unprinted newsprints (printed newsprints stain!), pile up on bubble wrap or buy heavy duty cartons.

2. Start packing straight away, there’s lots to do without packing in one fell swoop. Don’t try and squeeze all your packing into the final few days or even the day before. It’s a good idea to make sure all the packing is done at least 24 hours before you move house, this allows you time to pack all those last minute possessions. The sooner you start the better, pack things like CDs or DVDs ahead of time since you won’t want to use them till you get to your new property. The faster you start and the more you pack, means less tension as moving day gets here.

3. Be harsh and dispose of items that never get used and just fill up the cupboards. When packing, go through all your belongings and select things you do not need, for example those magazines you’ve been storing for three years. You can either throw these possessions away or simply give them to someone.

4 Lists, Lists, Lists. This just may be the most crucial action you will be doing when preparing for a home move. Lists help you keep track of what you are supposed to be accomplishing - make sure the lists include things like things to buy, to sell, to move, to dispose of. The day you move home will be less tense for having a lot of lists.

Things you need to think about for the day you move home.

Friends, family, colleagues can be asked to help you pack your vehicle at your old house and unload it when you get to your new home. By having all this support, the job of moving will be a lot faster and quicker. When the moving day comes, sort out a party and offer sandwiches or pizza and drinks to anyone who decides to come and assist. This way, people will be enjoying the day in a relaxed way and the move will get done quickly and pain-free. Youngsters are another thing to discuss when the big day comes. Ask around to see if you can get a friend to take your young ones away for the day so they are not in the way. For their own happiness, make sure the children see you are packing their prize toys and allow them to keep one or two items with them, for safe keeping. Make plans for your pet to go to kennels or stay with a friend while you move your belongings. When moving pets, take precautions to avoid the pet from getting sick in the car. Also, pack your pet’s belongings separately so it can be unpacked right away at your new property. Without fail never leave your animal alone in the car when moving. Allow frequent breaks so your animal can relieve themselves and make sure they are always on a restraint.

Searching for A Good Moving Truck Rental Company

Often, your vehicle will not be big enough to transfer all of your belongings to your new home and you’ll probably have to rent a truck. The venture you have with your moving vehicle rental is to a great extent dependent on you. When renting a vehicle make sure you take note of the next few points:

1. Proportions is the most important factor when choosing a vehicle to rent. Take your all your possessions into account then allow about 15% more scope. This is called ‘playing it safe’ and gives room for those last minute items you forgot about. Not having enough room is a ordeal and very distressing.

2. With so many hire companies in business these days, you’d think they all would charge same amount of money. Regardless of the amount of companies, this is just not the case. Compare prices from different companies; ask friends for recommendations, ring companies and use the web to search.

3. Hiring a van or a car is a very related experience. Hire your vehicle ahead of time so you don’t get stuck with one that doesn’t suit your needs. By organizing ahead your vehicle will be ready and accessible for you on moving day.

4. Van insurance is probably a good idea to look at. There is many dissimilarities between driving a van and driving a little car. If you don’t have insurance, one mistake can cost you a pretty penny. A scant few minutes of your time and a few dollars can make all the difference in relation to your anxiety levels.

5 Try to sort out ahead on how long you think you’ll be requiring your rental vehicle and always make sure you have some time to spare. The reason for doing this is that you don’t want to return it after the return time. The charges for doing so are extremely big.

Transporting a Car

Some people have two vehicles, so you need to think about how you are going to move it, if you do. You can drive the vehicle, ship the vehicle, tow it or put it on a trailer. Another alternative worth considering is advertising it, storing it or giving it to a relative. Make sure the car is capable of towing your second car and that all safety advice have been taken with the second car to be towed. Boats, trailers, motorbikes, four wheelers, etc. may need specialist provisions to be towed. Don’t believe you know how to correctly tow this vehicle, contact a dealer who sells these items or look on the internet for the correct and safest way to transport them.
